Descend On Bend is an annual van-life gathering that takes place in Bend, Oregon. The event takes place over Labor Day weekend each year and welcomes hundreds of visitors to a unique weekend of outdoor activities, workshops, communal meals and more.
The festival organisers say:
“Descend was born out of a shared passion for camping and the outdoors, aimed at bringing together like-minded individuals. The inaugural Descend event occurred in October 2014 when 15 VW Vanagon Westfalia enthusiasts gathered at the breathtaking location known as the “Hole-in-the-Ground,” a mile-wide sunken volcanic crater. It was during this gathering that we decided to establish an annual tradition.
Since then, our community has grown significantly, with over 1,000 people and 750+ vehicles participating each year. While our campsite has evolved to accommodate our expanding numbers, our core values remain unchanged: fostering connections with friends and family in the great outdoors.
Over the past decade, we’ve realized our primary goal is to encourage people to get out and camp. We don’t rely on complex growth strategies or marketing gimmicks. Instead, we provide a space for individuals to set aside their worries and enjoy humans, being.”
